FAITH HEALER by Brian Friel
Three Perspectives, One Truth?

Travelling through remote and lonely villages in Scotland and Wales, Frank works his magic, curing the sick and giving strength to the weak. Frank has a gift. A gift of healing. His powers are real, are they ?

Faith Healer is a haunting and spellbinding piece of theatre that tells the story of Frank, his wife Grace and manager Teddy who each take turns to recall their lives together, unveiling a pool of fractured and contradictory memories.

Acclaimed Hong Kong company Theatre du Pif brings its signature physical and emotional intensity to Brian Friel’s celebrated masterpiece – a profound meditation on art, faith and the stories we cling to for survival.

Faith Healer - Chinese Excerpts Reading

"At long last I was renouncing chance"

"Art is not to show the island but where the sea cannot overcome the land." James Joyce, a fellow Irishman of Brian Friel.

This Easter, Faith Healer gathers in the half-light before its English staging unfolds. We invite you to first encounter its Chinese translated excerpts, where lines move like incantations, and language crosses borders in search of new resonance.

Three monologues rise in turn, like testimonies carried on the tide, circling memory, doubt, and faith as though piecing together an unseen truth. Accompanied by live music, the audience enters a world at once stark and spellbound: where belief trembles, love endures, and the human heart stands quietly revealed.
